Lakefront Art Festival Celebrates a Quarter Century - August 20-21

The 25th Annual Lakefront Art Festival, presented by the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, will be held August 19 and August 20 in Washington Park in Michigan City. The Festival is a juried art show, committed to accepting only the finest original and highest-quality handmade art. Over 100 artists from throughout mid-America will display works in a booth setting. The Lakefront Art Festival will attract thousands of visitors from throughout the region.

Several artists will conduct demonstrations throughout the festival both days. Media categories include: collage, basketry, ceramics, drawing (pencil, pastels, etc.), fiber (weaving and wearable art), glass, jewelry, leather, metalwork, paintings, photography, printmaking, quilts, sculpture, watercolor, wood (furniture, carving and wood burning) and other more specific processes.

An on-site food court, available to festival goers and the general public, will feature: American and Mediterranean cuisine in addition to gourmet coffees and nuts. Many other ethnic options include Italian beef, Korean chicken sandwiches, Italian beef, tempura shrimp and much, much more.

The Art Time Tent, coordinated by the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, will be on site to provide art activities for visitors of ALL ages. Children and adults are welcome to try their hand at painting with tempera. Other children’s entertainment includes clowns and face painting.

The Festival will run Saturday, August 19th from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, August 20th from 10 am to 5 pm, and will be located just east of the bandstand in Washington Park in Michigan City, IN. Entry fees are $4 adults, $3 seniors, children under 12 admitted free. Members of the Lubeznik Center presenting a current membership card also receive free admission.
